Clinical Supervision

I am an LCSW in the state of Texas as well as a board-approved supervisor. The relationship between supervisor and supervisee is incredibly important and it requires trust, open communication, respect, competency and boundaries. I am dedicated to ensuring that my supervisees are fully equipped to complete supervision with mastery of therapeutic modalities and interventions (including DBT, CBT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, and more) as well as mastery of diagnostics according to the DSM-V.

I also provide extensive education on ethics, ethical dilemmas, cultural competency, and real world clinical experiences you may face. I will provide ample resources for passing your LCSW as well as education and resources for beginning in private practice. I will be able to bring over 10 years of experience as a social worker into my supervision and help you achieve your goal of being licensed at the clinical level in the state of Texas. Your success and development not only professionally, but personally, is of upmost importance to me and promoting the growth of other clinical social workers is a privilege and a passion!

Supervision is a minimum of a 24 month commitment with a maximum of 48 months to accrue your supervision hours. You must meet with your supervisor for 100 total hours in no less than 24 months, and it cannot take longer than 48 months to complete supervision. During this time, you must be employed and work at least 30 hours per week to be eligible to complete the supervision process in, or close to, 24 months. You must also be employed in a position that qualifies per the board's regulations.

In accordance with Texas State Board requirements supervisees with an approved plan for full-time work must participate in no fewer than four (4) hours of supervision each calendar month AND no fewer than two (2) supervisory sessions each calendar month.

I conduct my supervision via Zoom to offer supervision to any LMSW licensed in Texas, and I have openings beginning January 1, 2023 for two Saturdays a month from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and  two Wednesdays a month from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

If you are interested in beginning the clinical supervision process with me, you may email me at jessica@thompsonlcsw.com. I will schedule a Zoom interview with you to go over required documents, your goals and to answer any further questions you have for me.

ART
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that utilizes back and forth eye movements to help clients address common problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is not the same as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), however they both use eye movements. In experiencing ART, you may find that you connect pieces of information that are already stored in your memory to help you resolve your issues. The brain, while focused on a problem and concurrently using eye movements, makes new connections with a person's strengths and problem solving abilities.

ART is a very focused eye movement therapy and, as such, has produced quick, effective and safe results in treating anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship issues and grief, to name a few. ART is effective with adults as well as children.

When initially thinking about your problem during therapy, you may feel some of your usual unease about it. Clients quickly pass beyond their anxiety or sadness to first experience calm and then, as their problem loses its hold on them, relief. At the completion of ART treatment, the evidence to date shows that the changes you make will be long-lasting.

Most individuals who undergo ART report that they can no longer see images associated with traumatic memories, and they can think about the memory with little to no distress. Most also report no longer experiencing trauma triggers or past negative symptoms that were associated with the trauma they process in ART

Veterans
Trauma
Veterans

Most veterans have undergone the most intensive training imaginable, faced deployments and separation from loved ones, experienced comradery only known among those who have served- all to come home to a civilian world that doesn't understand them, and often doesn't seem to care. Whether you experienced combat, MST, a complete military career, or basic training, you aren't the same. Often active duty military and veterans struggle with identity, career, family and/or PTSD that creates feelings of isolation and shame.

I understand military culture having grown up with my father who served in Vietnam as a Reconnaissance Corpsman, and I've helped dozens of veterans move through trauma and loss to find a different and brighter future. I am a community provider who is contracted with the Department of Veteran Affairs and am in network with TriWest and TriCare for Life. It's a passion to serve those who served bravely, and I also enjoy working with the families of veterans to provide support and education to help the whole system heal. ;IGY6.

Trauma

Many individuals have experienced trauma in their lives. The unexpected loss of a loved one. The abusive relationship or childhood. The injury or illness that changed a life forever. The bully who wouldn't quit. The assault no one saw coming. These scenarios occur everyday to people of all walks of life in all areas of the world, and yet too many suffer without treatment or care. Many feel that they cannot revisit their trauma, but experience debilitating symptoms for months or years afterwards just hoping it will go away. Trauma therapy doesn't have to be retraumatizing, and I work diligently to ensure that trauma can be addressed carefully and effectively with a positive and brighter future at the end of the hard work. If you've been struggling with trauma and nothing else has worked, then you're in the right place. I offer free phone consultation and I'm happy to help you get started on the road to healing.
